Senior families: Bright Futures applications are open for the Class of 2027. Bright Futures is Florida's lottery-funded scholarship for Florida graduates heading to college in state.
File the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) at floridastudentfinancialaidsg.org. One form also puts your student in the running for other state scholarships automatically.
The deadline is August 31, 2027, after graduation. File before then to keep your award. Counselors say file now, not after graduation.

Senior families: the 2027-28 FAFSA is open at StudentAid.gov, and there is good news this year. The form is shorter (most families finish in about 15 minutes), and your Submission Summary shows your estimated aid eligibility, often right after you submit.
Two things to do first: create your StudentAid.gov account early to avoid delays, and file even if you think your income is too high. Sallie Mae's latest survey found about a quarter of families (26%) skipped the FAFSA last year, often assuming income was too high. Yet many families earning over $100,000 still qualify for federal aid. Many aid programs require the FAFSA regardless.
Some aid is first come, first served, and federal, state, and school deadlines differ. File early.
