As we look ahead to October and November, we want our families to have important dates on their calendars early and know what to expect across our schools.

These upcoming Pillar Events are designed to create meaningful opportunities for connection, celebration, family engagement and community partnership. From Muffins in the Morning and Fall Conferences to United Way Day of Caring, Veterans Day Recognition, Thankfulness Family Lunch and Student Principal for a Day, each event is another way we continue strengthening the connection between our schools and the families we serve.

Please keep in mind that Honor Roll and Effort Celebrations may take place in October or November and dates will vary by school. We encourage families to follow their school’s social media and visit their school website for specific dates, times and event details.

Families and community members interested in supporting our United Way Day of Caring on October 24 at Citrus Elementary School can also register to volunteer here:

Something special is happening right here in Indian River County.

This past weekend, leaders from the School District of Indian River County joined our partners at The Learning Alliance on the national stage at the 2026 Memphis Literacy Conference to share The Moonshot Story: Lesson for Practical Application in Leadership. The conference brought together educators and literacy leaders to share research-based practices and approaches to improving literacy.

Together, our leaders shared how bold ideas, strong partnerships, aligned systems, and a shared commitment to children are helping transform literacy outcomes and create brighter futures for every learner.

We are proud of the work happening across #MySDIRC and grateful for the educators, leaders, families, students, and community partners who continue to move this work forward. What is happening in Indian River County demonstrates what is possible when a school district and its community work together toward a common goal.

Learn more about the Memphis Literacy Conference and our presenters:

And the story continues right here in Indian River County.

Want to experience this work firsthand? Join us February 3–5, 2027, for the Wired to Learn Fast Summit, bringing education leaders together around literacy, leadership, the science of learning, and systems change.

Little Learners. Big Beginnings.

Yesterday, new banners were installed at Vero Beach Elementary as part of the Moonshot School ABCs of IRC, highlighting a community partnership between Vero Beach Elementary, The Learning Alliance, and the School District of Indian River County.

While visiting campus, we had the opportunity to spend time with some of our Pre-K students as they learned, explored, and connected in the classroom.

Early learning experiences help build curiosity, confidence, and foundational skills that students carry with them throughout their educational journey.

We are grateful for the continued partnership of The Learning Alliance and for the work taking place across our schools to support strong beginnings for every learner.

Stronger Together.
