Section 1003.42(2)(q) F.S. Required Instruction

Members of the instructional staff of the public schools, subject to the rules of the State Board of Education and the district school board, shall teach efficiently and faithfully, using the books and materials required that meet the highest standards for professionalism and historical accuracy, following the prescribed courses of study, and employing approved methods of instruction, the following:

(q) The study of women's contributions to the United States.

FLDOE Arts Education Month -

Standards for arts education in Florida enable students to become critical thinkers and problem solvers who are able to thrive in the challenges of the 21st century workforce. Additionally, learning opportunities in arts integration and civics initiatives provide students with tangible opportunities to collaborate with peers and highlight cross-curricular academic skills and strengths. All students benefit from access to and engagement with high-quality arts educational experiences, as these experiences lead to deeper engagement both academically and civically.

Throughout the month of March, consider enriching curriculum by incorporating time for students to learn from local artists. Encourage administrators and teachers to share their experiences with the arts and how the arts have inspired them both personally and professionally. The Department thanks the administrators, teachers and arts education stakeholders who continue to provide excellence in arts education throughout the state of Florida.
