RTI in 2nd grade capped off the week with engaging small-group instruction focused on targeted reading skills! Students practiced fluency, decoding, and comprehension strategies—showing just how much progress they’ve made through consistent intervention and support.

4th grade capped off their Medieval Times unit with an unforgettable trip to Medieval Times! Students cheered for their knights, feasted like royalty, and brought their classroom learning to life in the most exciting way possible — jousts, cheers, and all! 🏰⚔️👏

Students in Ms. Brausam’s gifted class used 3D printing to bring their creativity to life! After studying the planets, each student designed and printed an alien uniquely adapted to survive on its planet’s atmosphere and conditions. Out-of-this-world science meets innovation! 👽🪐

Our GOTR team joined forces with our 6th grade GOTR alumni this week for our “Share the Superstar Message” lesson! ✨ What an inspiring afternoon of leadership, kindness, and girl power in action! 💪💖

Another successful Marine Lab trip for our 5th grade is in the books - thank you, Coach Ferrari and Ms. Walton, for leading the learning! 🌊🔬

So many Panthers to celebrate, we had to make it a two-day event! 💚 Honor Roll and Attitude & Effort Roll Day 2 — excellence never goes out of style!

Mrs. Hatcher’s class dug into Florida history today, creating tree maps to organize information about the five Native American tribes of Florida. 🌴📚 A hands-on way to connect past and present while building strong social studies skills!

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Lewis’ class are buzzing with excitement as they learn about pollination and the importance of bees in their CKLA Knowledge Unit on Plants! 🐝🌸 Today, they created their own flowers and enjoyed a special “cheesy” snack while pretending to pollinate their classmates’ flowers—hands-on learning at its sweetest (and cheesiest)! 🧀💛

Sentence reading meets sentence writing! ✍️ Ms. Zehr’s students practiced fluency and writing by wearing sentence headbands for partners to read and record—then self-assessed using their criteria for success!

Ms. Dribben’s kindergarteners demonstrated part-to-whole thinking by creating a pumpkin brace map—analyzing each component of a pumpkin to understand how the whole is made up of its parts.

Our staff is like family — and sometimes we even dress like it! Twinning is how we roll! 💚 Mrs. Zehr and Mrs. Reed rocked their stripes today in perfect Panther style! 🖤💚

Hard work, great attitudes, and our traditional courtyard lunch celebration — a perfect combo! 🏆 Congrats to our 1st graders for Attitude & Effort Roll and our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders for Honor Roll! Tomorrow we celebrate Grades K, 2, and 3!

Empowering our 6th graders with tools for emotional well-being—thank you Mrs. Clarke and Thrive Preventionist, Julia DeMott for leading today’s mental health awareness sessions. 💚

What a great feeling to find representation of yourself in a book! This proud Panther discovered a book at the book fair that celebrates her identity and proudly shared her beautiful khimar with her classmates.

As we close out National Principal Month, we thank our #MySDIRC principals for being the heartbeat of our schools.
Send a thank you to your superhero principal below and let them know their powers of leadership, kindness, and dedication do not go unnoticed.
Follow the School District of Indian River County’s social media page for a special video from our #MySDIRC students celebrating these amazing heroes.

From lab coats to lagoons! Our 5th graders became marine scientists for the day, dissecting balloon “fish” to learn how ORCA researchers monitor the Indian River Lagoon’s health. 🧪🐟

Ms. Stone's and Ms. Woodson’s classes have been learning about community helpers and fire prevention. Today, Station 13 of the VBFD brought the lesson to life with a fire engine visit! Afterward, students built their own “fires” and practiced putting them out during an interactive activity. We’re so thankful for Station 13 for taking the time to visit! 🚒🔥👏

Attendance matters—and these students nailed it! 🏆 100% present, 100% proud!

F-A-U-S-T! You make this the place to be! 💜
A big shoutout from Ms. Woodson’s and Ms. Stone’s classes to “Uncle Faust” for National Principal’s Month!

Our 5th graders made it safely to Marine Lab and are already diving into their first session! Big thanks to Coach Ferrari and Mrs. Walton for leading the way as our staff chaperones!
