SDIRC earns district grade of an “A”

Vero Beach, FL, December 12, 2023– Yesterday, the Florida Department of Education released district and school grades based upon the 2022-2023 school year. The School District of Indian River County has earned a district grade of an "A" and is the only “A” school district on the Treasure Coast.  The last time the district earned a grade of "A" was in 2015.  Please see the following summary of our progress:

  • 21-22 the SDIRC earned 59% of the points for the District Grade.  
  • 22-23 the SDIRC earned 68% of the points for the District Grade, which is an increase of nine (9) percentage points. 
  • All surrounding counties earned a grade of a “B” or below.   
  • Four elementary schools improved a letter grade – Glendale Elementary, Citrus Elementary, Pelican Island Elementary, Treasure Coast Elementary.  
  • 78% of our elementary schools are an “A” or a “B.”
  • VBHS improved from a "C" in 2022 to a “B" to 2023.  
  • Oslo Middle improved from a "C" in 2022 to a “B" to 2023.  
  • A total of 7 of our schools improved a letter grade. 
  • 65% of our schools are an “A” or a “B” compared to 47% in 18-19.
