2026 Principal of the Year Finalist

Ms. Felice Bagley Earns Statewide Recognition Following Historic School Achievement

VERO BEACH, FL (April 5, 2026) - The School District of Indian River County (SDIRC) proudly announces that Ms. Felice Bagley, Principal of Dodgertown Elementary School and the 2026 School District of Indian River County Principal of the Year, has been selected by the Florida Department of Education as one of three finalists for the Florida Principal of the Year. This prestigious recognition places Ms. Bagley among the very best school leaders in the state and reflects the extraordinary impact of her leadership.

The award, bestowed by the Florida Department of Education, recognizes principals who demonstrate excellence in student achievement, instructional leadership, and community engagement. Ms Bagley’s work exemplifies each of these areas, setting a standard of excellence that is transforming outcomes for students and families.

Under her leadership, Dodgertown Elementary has achieved a defining milestone, earning a school grade of A for the 2024-2025 academic year. This accomplishment marks the first time the school has reached an A rating since the 2007-2008 academic year and represents a powerful shift in academic performance, culture, and expectations.

“Ms. Bagley is a transformational leader whose vision and commitment have elevated an entire school community,” said Dr. David K. Moore, Superintendent of Schools. “This recognition reflects not only her dedication, but the collective excellence of her staff and students. Dodgertown Elementary’s success is a direct result of strong leadership, high expectations, and a relentless focus on student achievement.

Through a focus on high-quality instruction, intentional collaboration, and a culture built on trust and accountability, Ms Bagley has empowered both students and staff to reach new levels of success. Her leadership has strengthened instructional practices, fostered meaningful family engagement, and created an environment where every student is supported and challenged to achieve.

This recognition is not only a celebration of Ms Bagley’s leadership, but also a reflection of what is possible when a school community is united by purpose and driven by a shared commitment to excellence.

This is more than recognition. This is momentum.
