The School District of Indian River County invites families to participate in STEP into Kindergarten, a free Summer Transition Enrichment Program designed to help children confidently begin their Kindergarten year.
This developmentally appropriate program supports early literacy, math, language, and social development in a nurturing school environment. Eligible students must have completed a Voluntary Prekindergarten program, be registered to attend Kindergarten at an SDIRC elementary school, and be five years old on or before September 1.
The program runs June 3 through June 30, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with no school on June 19. Free breakfast, lunch, and transportation are provided. Families may choose from three locations: Fellsmere Academy, Pelican Island Classical Magnet School, or Vero Beach Elementary School.
Embedded within the program is Summer Bridge, a 25-day, 100-hour instructional opportunity for selected students identified through STAR Early Literacy scores. Eligible families will be notified directly.
