Statement from Dr. David K. Moore, Superintendent of Schools
School District of Indian River County
Wednesday, August 20, 2025
I want to thank the Taxpayers Association of Indian River County for their thoughtful review of our 2025–2026 Tentative Budget and for their continued commitment to ensuring both fiscal responsibility and educational excellence for our community.
The School District of Indian River County remains steadfast in its mission of transforming education to inspire and empower all students to maximize their full potential. This requires careful stewardship of resources, a commitment to transparency, and a clear focus on sustaining high-quality educational opportunities for every child.
As highlighted in the Association’s statement, our District continues to navigate the realities of rising costs and shifting funding dynamics, while remaining focused on providing competitive compensation to attract and retain outstanding teachers and staff. We are proud that, even within these conditions, the District has maintained strong financial standing, reduced administrative costs, and preserved essential priorities such as workforce development, academic innovation, and student safety. These efforts are strengthened by our continued partnership with state leaders, as together we work to ensure resources are maximized in support of students, families, and educators across Indian River County.
We recognize the impact of programs such as the Family Empowerment Scholarship on public school funding and share the Association’s commitment to transparency and accountability in how state dollars are allocated. While competition across school choice options continues to grow, our focus remains on delivering high-quality, innovative learning experiences that make SDIRC the first choice for families in Indian River County.
We deeply value the support of our community partners and the trust of our taxpayers. Together, we will continue to ensure that our schools provide rigorous instruction, safe and supportive environments, and meaningful opportunities for all students to succeed.
