Friday Night Lights

Elevating Entry Procedures for the 2025-2026 Football Season

With high school football season kicking off, the School District of Indian River County (SDIRC) is elevating safety measures to ensure “Friday Night Lights” remain a safe and enjoyable experience for all. As a result, beginning with the first home football games at Sebastian River High School and Vero Beach High School, guests will see upgraded security at stadium entrances — including the full implementation of the District’s Approved Bag Procedures. Fans are encouraged to plan ahead to help ensure a smooth and efficient entry process.

“The safety of our students, staff, and fans is our highest priority,” said Dr. David K. Moore, Superintendent of Schools. “By leading with safety, we are making sure the excitement and tradition of Friday night lights is matched with structure, responsibility, and protection for everyone in attendance.”

Plan Ahead for Game Day

  • Fans should arrive early to account for additional time needed to enter the stadium.

  • Security measures will be in place at multiple gates to help manage lines and maintain safety.

  • Every spectator, including children, may bring one approved clear bag.

Approved Bags for Entry

Only the following bags are permitted inside the stadiums:

  • Clear Tote Bags; Plastic, vinyl, or PVC; not to exceed 12" x 6" x 12"

  • Small Clutch Purse: No larger than 4.5" x 6.5"; may be carried alone or within an approved clear bag

Additional Game Day Guidelines

  • Binoculars and cameras are allowed if carried by hand or inside an approved clear bag; bags designed specifically for these items are prohibited.

  • Seat cushions and blankets are allowed but must be carried in by hand and are subject to inspection. They should not be placed inside any bag or container.

  • Fans with bags that do not meet the requirements will be given the opportunity to return prohibited items to their vehicles.

  • Bags cannot be left unattended anywhere on campus.

  • Exceptions for medically necessary items will be made after inspection by a gate administrator.

The SDIRC will work with fans to adjust to these expectations early in the season.
