Osceola Magnet School has been named a National Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools.

 Osceola Magnet School is K-5th grade elementary school that continually strives to be a model for the state for Science and Math Exploration.  In addition to regular S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) days, Science and Math is integrated into Literacy, Social Studies, and Arts lessons.  Singapore Math supplements the state mathematics curriculum to prepare students for the highest levels of future mathematics courses.  Digital Literacy is the focal point for our Media and Technology Center, incorporating coding, Lego Robotics,, and a fully digital tv studio.  Students at Osceola Magnet regularly perform at the highest levels in local and state assessments, most recently earning the 2017 “School of Excellence” designation from the Florida Department of Education.


Presentation of Distinction Award:

Scott Simpson, principal of Osceola Magnet, will be recognized and receive a National Magnet School of Distinction Merit Award on behalf of the school during an awards ceremony held at Magnet Schools of America’s 36th National Conference hosted by Chicago Public Schools in Chicago, Illinois April 25-29, 2018.

 To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme.
