Vero Beach, FL, July 11, 2017– The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International announced on July 7, 2017, that the School Board of Indian River County has been awarded its Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for having met or exceeded the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability.  The District was recognized for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending 2016.

Dr. Rendell stated, “We continually strive to provide transparency in all of our areas of operations.  The Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting is awarded by a review team from an international organization.  It is proof that our Finance Department is producing accurate and detailed information.  One of the documents referenced is the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, often referred to as the CAFR, which is provided to the public each year.  It can be viewed on our website.  I want to congratulate Mr. Carter Morrison, our Assistant Superintendent for Finance, and his team for once again being recognized for their quality work.  This is the 10th year in a row that we have received this award.”

This award, sponsored by VALIC, confirms the school district business office’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency.

The School District of Indian River County is a CommUNITY partnership striving for educational excellence and inspiring every student to be successful.
