The School District of Indian River County’s 2018 Teacher of the Year and 2017 School Related Employee of the Year were announced last night, December 19, at the conclusion of the annual Teacher and Employee of the Year Gala which was held in the Performing Arts Center at Vero Beach High School. 

2018 Indian River County School District Teacher of the Year Katelyn Fiori, Vero Beach Elementary 4th Grade Teacher:

“I am inspired by the incredible opportunity I have to help children discover and delight in knowledge. All children are born with a natural, powerful curiosity, and I humbly appreciate my responsibility to help nurture that innate desire in my students,” said Katelyn Fiori.

2017 Indian River County School District School-Related Employee of the Year Jennifer Riddick, Vero Beach Elementary Student Support Specialist: 

“Jennifer has coined the phrase, “your vibe, attracts your tribe,” which has become the statement on our school-wide staff shirts this year.  She exemplifies leadership, builds relationships with our families and community, and encourages the best in all around her”, Cynthia Emerson, Vero Beach Elementary Principal

Representatives from MIidFlorida Credit Union presented the 2018 Teacher of the Year, Katelyn Fiori, with a check for $5,000 and the 2017 School Related Employee of the Year, Jennifer Riddick, with a check for $2,500.  Both winners will now enter competitions for Florida Teacher of the Year and Florida School Related Employee of the Year.
