SDIRC Students Win at ISEF 2019

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY STUDENTS WIN AT INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR

Ed Foundation LogoThe Society for Science & the Public, in partnership with the Intel Foundation, announced Grand Awards of the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2019 held during the week of May 12, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona. Student winners are ninth through twelfth graders who earned the right to compete at the Intel ISEF 2019 by winning a top prize at a local, regional, state or national science fair.

Indian River County sent three students to this prestigious event who competed at our regional level and also at the Florida State level. All three students attend Vero Beach High School.

The students and their results are as follows

  • Griffin Wagner, Vero Beach High School, FL
    • 4th Place Overall Winner in his category of Environmental Engineering for his project - A Holistic Engineering Plan Incorporating Predictive Data Modeling into the Process of Remediating Cyanophyta Algae Blooms and Applying Photoautotrophic Prokaryotes Biomass to Improve Agricultural Outcomes

  • Lauren Amos & Sydney Tran, Vero Beach High School, FL
    • Special Award in the Physics Category given by the Air Force Research Laboratory (Plaque & $750 each) for their project - Optimization of Drone Flight Patterns for Use in Extraterrestrial Cave Mapping

The Indian River County Regional Science & Engineering Fair is presented in partnership with the Education Foundation of Indian River County and the School District of Indian River County.
