First graders in Mrs. Dossantos class learned about the solar eclipse through the live feed of the NASA coverage and hands on activities, which included recreating the eclipse using a flashlight (sun,) orange (Earth,) and a mandarin orange (moon.) Students used thinking maps to brainstorm and then generated journal writing explaining the eclipse.  



Students in Mrs. Olsson's 2nd Grade class made a model of a solar eclipse after doing a close read of an article and answering questions.  Here is Aubri Gregg showing an example of her work.
