SDIRC Celebrates FSA and EOC Achievements

SDIRC Celebrates 2020-2021 FSA and EOC Achievements and Growths Amid the Pandemic
Posted on 07/29/2021

Vero Beach, FL, July 29, 2021–Today, the FLDOE released the 2020-2021 Spring Assessment results for the FSA Grades 3-10 ELA; Grades 3-8 Mathematics; Statewide Science Grades 5 and 8; and EOCs in Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, Civics, and US History. As anticipated, the statewide data is reflective of the learning disruptions due to COVID-19. Acknowledging this, this data still demonstrates that the SDIRC has shown resiliency in instruction and learning during this past year. Our district’s state rankings within each of the areas measured, show increases based upon current results, with the exception of Algebra. It is important to note, that prior to 2019, the district did not encourage student access to this course in middle school and delayed enrollment in high school until the 10th grade. As a result, we increased participation in this course by 36%.

The data below clearly demonstrates that the SDIRC drastically outperformed districts on the Treasure Coast in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As encouraging as this is, there is still a great deal of work to do as we continue to move forward into the upcoming school year. Although we celebrate our results in comparison to surrounding districts, we will remain steadfast in our continuous improvement efforts. As individual and school site data becomes available, it is anticipated that the impacts of COVID-19 will have significant impacts on those who experienced disproportionate disruptions in learning due to COVID-19. Although the school site specific data is yet to be available regarding school grades, based upon the various disruptions and instructional models, school grades would unlikely clearly illustrate the hard work and dedication that has been put forth by students and staff members.
