Vero Beach, FL, July 2, 2021The Florida Department of Education has placed Amplify Education’s CKLA Florida Edition, Grades K through 5 instructional materials on the approved adoption list.  Due to the determination of our School Board, who continued to advocate for the initial curriculum choice of the School District of Indian River County (SDIRC), Amplify Education’s CKLA Florida Edition will be utilized by students and teachers in kindergarten through grade eight throughout the School District of Indian River County in the 2021-2022 school year.

“I could not be more pleased that the Amplify K-5 curriculum has been approved by the Department of Education,” stated Brian Barefoot SDIRC Board Chairman. “This approval confirms the early recommendation from the district’s review committee and staff and eliminates some concerns brought forth by our community.”

SDIRC Superintendent, Dr. David Moore, stated, “I commend our Board for continuing to support our mission with a curriculum that will empower ALL students to maximize their full potential.  Amplify will align ELA standards throughout grade levels, and provide students, teachers, and families with consistency across the English Language Arts curriculum as they transition from elementary to middle school.”

Amplify Education’s K-5 ELA instructional materials along with the already approved Amplify 6-8 ELA instructional materials will:

  • Enable students to experience a more coherent transition from elementary to middle school as they will be familiar with the product.
  •  Increase the ability of families to support their students as they will not have to navigate two different ELA platforms with students in multiple grade levels.
  • Increase student background knowledge resulting in increased reading comprehension; enabling a smooth transition through the K-8 grades and ensuring there are no gaps in student learning.

SDIRC Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Richard Myhre, added, “I’d like to thank everyone who participated in the original selection of Amplify as well as those who continued to advocate for its approval. We are extremely confident that the adoption of this instructional tool will enable our students to reach their reading goals.”
