SDIRC TO REOPEN SCHOOLS ON FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 6TH AND CALLS ALL 12-MONTH EMPLOYEES BACK WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH

Vero Beach, FL, September 3, 2019- The School District of Indian River County is canceling school on Thursday, September 5th, and reopening schools on Friday, September 6th following an announcement by the Indian River County Emergency Services Department that all mandatory evacuations have been lifted as of Tuesday September 3rd at 12 p.m. Shelters will remain open until the morning of Wednesday, September 4th, and upon clearing, our staff will begin working to restore normal operations. 12-month employees should report to their normal work location on Wednesday, September 4th. School will be in session for all students and other employees, on Friday, September 6th. We understand that some of our students and staff members have evacuated from what we thought would be a devastating storm, for families of students, we will honor each family’s individual circumstances regarding absenteeism for the remainder of the week. Please communicate with your school’s administration regarding your student’s absences upon returning. Employees who have unforeseen circumstances regarding returning to work should communicate with their supervisors.
