Dr. David Moore Conducts Two-Day "Opportunity Tour" of Our District

Vero Beach, FL, December 16, 2019— Dr. David Moore just completed the first day of his two-day District-wide “Opportunity Tour.” As part of Dr. Moore’s onboarding process, this two-day school site "Opportunity Tour" will provide him opportunities to meet with principals, teachers, and students, while allowing him to see the outstanding things that are happening in our schools, as well as identify opportunities to improve the quality of instruction for all children in our District.

Today, Dr. Moore visited 10 north county schools, including, Wabasso School, Storm Grove Middle School, Liberty Magnet Elementary School, Treasure Coast Elementary School, Sebastian River High School, Sebastian River Middle School, Fellsmere Elementary School, Sebastian Elementary School, Pelican Island Elementary School, and Treasure Coast Technical College.

 Superintendent at Sebastian Elementary

Letitia Hart, Principal at Sebastian Elementary School, said, “It was great getting the opportunity to show Dr. Moore "The Nest" on his visit to Sebastian Elementary School. Dr. Moore is genuinely concerned with the safety and well-being of our students. I look forward to working with him.”

Superintendent at Storm Grove Middle

Ann Bieber, Principal at Storm Grove Middle School, added, “It was great to meet Dr. Moore and have an opportunity to show him our campus. He emphasized wanting to know what he could do to support our school and students. We are looking forward to working with Dr. Moore to get our school and District to an ‘A’.”

Superintendent at SRHS

“Dr. Moore is very poised and ready to understand what our needs are as a school district,” said Dariyall Brown, Principal at Sebastian River High School. “He has some really good ideas, which are supported by research and best practices for teachers and students, and was interested in our school's history, and what we desire to accomplish by the end of the year. I believe he will lead our District to notable recognition around the State, which all stakeholders can be proud of in the very near future.”

 Superintendent at Wabasso School

Chris Kohlstedt, Principal at the Wabasso School, stated, “Within minutes of the visit from Dr. Moore, he asked to see students. I was thrilled to oblige, and I am hopeful that his actions equate to the ‘students first’ philosophy we practice at Wabasso.”

Tomorrow, Dr. Moore will continue his tour and visit the rest of our traditional public schools, including, Gifford Middle School, Dodgertown Elementary School, Rosewood Magnet Elementary School, Glendale Elementary School, Citrus Elementary School, Vero Beach Elementary School, Vero Beach High School, Beachland Elementary School, Oslo Middle School, Osceola Magnet Elementary School, Indian River Academy, and the Alternative Center for Education.

Dr. Moore has extended an invitation to the media to join him on the “Opportunity Tour,” at one school site, Indian River Academy, tomorrow at 2:20 p.m. This will allow the media an opportunity to tour one of our school campuses, and a brief time to photograph and ask Dr. Moore questions.

Upon returning to school in January, Dr. Moore will be meeting with each school’s faculty and Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA) at scheduled times. Those times will be announced to school administration, and the public, this week.
