“A second article, published in February, confirmed problems at the school, revealing that 10 out of 48 teachers at Gifford Middle, more than 20 percent, had already left – quit, retired or been fired – by the middle of the school year. By the end of the year, that number was up to 16, meaning a third of the teaching staff had fled the school Decker was in charge of during the school year.”
FACT: In the article published by 32963, it was stated that there are 48 teachers at Gifford Middle School, however there are actually 54.6 teachers at Gifford Middle School. The data in the article was incorrect in only counting the allocations and presuming that was the amount of active staff. Regarding terminations, 4 out of 54.6 teachers, which is 7.4%, resigned or retired by the middle of the school year. This includes teachers that may have resigned coming off a leave of absence. By the end of the school year, a total of 13 teachers, or 24% had resigned or retired, which is less than a quarter of the teaching force, not 1/3 as reported.
