The Storm Grove Middle School “Singing Stingrays” make their fifth consecutive appearance at Walt Disney Performing Arts Onstage. Continuing their new tradition, this select group of 26 students were chosen through an audition process to perform a 20 minute live show at Disney Springs. “We spent nearly two months learning the eight songs in our performance set and rehearsing dance steps”, says Storm Grove’s Director Wallace Rahming. The two day event consisted of the performance and a rigorous but highly entertaining Disney Sings workshop in which the students were able learn vocal techniques, record “voice overs” and create their own personal soundtrack to the classic animated film, “The Lion King.” “The students represented our school and our district extremely well,” says Rahming. “We continue to improve our performances visually as well as musically and I hope that we can continue participating in this program for years to come.” The Storm Grove Middle School Choral Department has been under the direction of Wallace Rahming since the school’s inaugural year in 2009. The choir recently received its 23rd Superior rating at the District 13 Florida Vocal Association Music Performance Assessment (March 2018).
