Thinking about dual enrollment? It's a great time to start!

Important: All students must take Student Success (SLS 1101).

SDIRC and Indian River State College (IRSC) have partnered to offer students the accelerated option of dual enrollment. This option allows eligible students to get a jump on college by taking courses that qualify as both college and high school credits. Dual enrolled students are exempt from application fees, tuition and book costs!

Considerations per Florida State Statute 1007.271:

  • Students who are eligible for dual enrollment pursuant to this section may enroll in dual enrollment courses conducted during school hours, after school hours, and during the summer term. However, if the student is projected to graduate from high school before the scheduled completion date of a postsecondary course, the student may not register for that course through dual enrollment
  • To participate in the dual enrollment program, an eligible home education secondary student must:
    • Provide proof of enrollment in a home education program pursuant to s. 1002.41.
    • Be responsible for his or her own transportation unless provided for in the articulation agreement.
    • Sign a home education articulation agreement pursuant to paragraph (b)
  • A student enrolled as a dual enrollment student is exempt from the payment of registration, tuition, and laboratory fees.
  • School districts and Florida College System institutions must weigh dual enrollment courses the same as advanced placement, International Baccalaureate, and Advanced International Certificate of Education courses when grade-point averages are calculated.
