The School District of Indian River County Names District Teacher And School-Related Employee of the Year

Vero Beach, FL – January 25, 2018 – The School District of Indian River County would like to recognize their District Teacher of the Year, Tess Borengasser, 2nd Grade Teacher at Glendale Elementary School, and District School-Related Employee of the Year, Jillian Brothers, Head Custodian at Fellsmere Elementary School. Tess and Jillian were recognized along with their colleagues at the “Stars of the Year” Gala, sponsored by MidFlorida Credit Union, on Monday night at Sebastian River High School Performing Arts Center. The Gala had a “Hollywood” feel and included performances from Sebastian River High School Encore Choir, directed by Mr. Larry Stanley; Storm Grove Middle School Jazz Band, directed by Mr. Sean Srigley; Storm Grove Middle School Orchestra, directed by Mr. Richard Ballinger; and Mr. Jody Brown, pianist. Tess and Jillian will continue in the competition in hopes of becoming Finalists for the State Teacher and School-Related Employee of the Year. The 2019 State Teacher of the Year Finalists will be announced in May, and the 2018 State School-Related Employee of the Year Finalists will be announced in March.
