The Administrative Procedures Act of 1974 mandated that school districts reexamine current policies and rules and rewrite them in a recommended pattern. This Act was updated by the Florida Legislature in 1998. The Rules and Regulations contained in this book have been adopted following statutory guidelines and include contributions from individuals during public hearings.
During the 2007/2008 school year, the administrative staff initiated activities which resulted in the review and revision of existing Board Rules in addition to the creation of new rules for adoption. These chapters have been reviewed and adopted on a scheduled basis.

I wish to express my appreciation to staff and school board members who cooperatively devised these rules of operation for our schools. It is imperative that each member of the board, and the administrative staff, be familiar with these regulations. Although this will continue to be an "evolving" document, it certainly serves as the cornerstone on which we build our actions and perform our duties.
