All applications must be submitted online.  The Certified Application is for Administrator positions and Instructional positions, including Instructional Substitutes.  Adult Education instructors will Also use the Certified Application. 

The Support and Professional Technical Application is for all Support Staff and Professional Technical positions, including Substitutes.

  • Note:  In the Preference section of the on-line application, individuals may select from a generic list of positions (this list does not reflect current openings) or they may apply for specific job vacancies.   When applying for a specific vacancy, always apply by posting number [identified in the title of each job listing].  To do that, click on the Add Position box in the Preference section.  The “Position” box will display as blank. Either click on that line or use the scroll command to bring up the list, by posting number, of all current openings.  You may select (Add) as many specific position selections as you wish.  Simply  “Add”, then “Continue” for as many iterations as needed. 

    *Please Note:* Effective July, 2009 – ALL newly hired employees (full time, part time or substitute, coaches) will be responsible for paying the following  (2) fees: 

    1.      WORKPLACE SCREENING

    This fee payment may be made via Check or Money Order made out to the School District of Indian River County.  No credit cards or cash will be accepted.  

    1.      Dept. of Transportation — *$34.75 ( CDL Drivers)

    2.      All others applicants (Non-Department of Transportation)  *$31.90

    2.      FINGERPRINTING(Read all directions)

    *$81.25 through FDLE and FBI - These fees must be prepaid at www.flprints.com or call 877-357-7456 (write down your Confirmation number). Applicants may also bring a money order made out to Fingerprint Services.   No checks or credit cards accepted at the school district office for fingerprinting. Please contact Mrs. Nicola Blanton at 772-564-3024 for assistance and / or to set up the fingerprinting appointment.

    In the drop down menu there are 2 selections. Choose the correct one:

    1.      Contractors choose the Contractor / Vendor selection – you will pay $81.25 with credit card.

    2.      Employees choose the employee selection – you will pay $57.25 with credit card and bring in a check or money order for $24 made out to the School District of Indian River County.

    a.       Applicants who do not have a credit card may pay by:

                                                                              i.      First, a Money Order for $57.25 made out to Fingerprint Services and

                                                                            ii.      Second, a check or money order for $24.00 made out to the School District of Indian River County.

    PROCESS

    1.      Volunteers: 1:1 tutors, mentors – regular volunteers (Must be approved by Principal)

    a.       School Volunteers who are not 1:1 or alone with a child do not need to be printed and will not  be charged

    b.      District will pay for 1:1 tutors / mentors fingerprint cost (only if secluded)

    2.      Chaperones – Daily and Overnight-  (Must be approved by Principal)

    a.       One-time chaperones for non-overnight trips do not have to be fingerprinted.

    b.      Chaperones for overnight trips must be fingerprinted and will pay their own fingerprinting costs.  (chaperones have duties – do not drive their own cars.)

    3.      Coaches - Volunteer and Paid Coaches

    a.       All coaches will pay their own costs for fingerprinting and workplace processing.  Volunteer coaches must be printed (at their cost).

    4.      Student Workers

    a.       Student workers / parents pay their own costs for fingerprinting and processing.

    Instructional Vacancies

    The following positions are effective for the 2010-11 school year.  Applicants must have a valid Florida Certificate and meet the No Child Left Behind Act regulations and requirements for the subject area requested.

    To comply with the No Child Left Behind Act, applicants must have at least a Bachelor's Degree, obtainable Florida Certification, and successfully pass the Florida subject area exam for each core academic subject to be taught.  Teachers at Title I Schools must meet No Child Left Behind requirements at the time of employment.

    SUBSTITUTE TEACHING INFORMATION

    Due to the reduction in personnel, we are giving priority for new substitute teaching positions to employees who were non-renewed due to budget cuts. Preference for substitute teaching will also be given to former teachers and applicants who hold current Florida educator certification and who meet federal Highly Qualified Teacher status in accordance with No Child Left Behind legislation.

    If you meet the above criteria, you may apply for substitute teaching by following the directions below:

    Step 1

    • Complete an on-line application
    • Go to www.indianriverschools.org
    • Click on "Employment Opportunities" 
    • Click on "Certified Application Process"
    • Read and follow the instructions for submitting an application
    • You must add "Substitute Teaching” as one of your preferences

    Step 2

    Provide verification of degree.  You must have an AS/AA degree to be considered. An official transcript(s) from all universities and colleges must arrive in a sealed envelope. Copies are not acceptable.

    Step 3

    Provide 3 written references dated within the last year.  Printable reference forms are available on our website. Open the “Certified Application Process” link. The reference forms are at the bottom of the page.  References may also be on your previous employer's business letterhead.  

    Step 4

    Provide a current Florida teaching certificate.

    Step 5

    All completed applications will remain on file until additional Substitute Teachers are needed.
